Call of Duty 3 - Modern Warfar |
Does the Navy SEAL team that took out Osama bin Laden on May 2 appear in the upcoming Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 video game from Activision Blizzard?
That's the contention of gaming site Kotaku, which reported Saturday that "[a] brief audio clip that we believe is a piece of the upcoming Modern Warfare 3 refers to SEAL Team Six, the unit widely assumed to have killed Osama Bin Laden in a raid in Pakistan earlier this month."
Kotaku said the audio clip was part of "a larger leak of presumed Modern Warfare 3 images, story details and sound clips" that the site received last week.
In addition to the reported appearance of SEAL Team Six, there are spoilers aplenty in Kotaku's series of reports on the upcoming first-person shooter, the eighth installment in the Call of Duty series.
Modern Warfare 3 reportedly kicks off with a Russian invasion of Brooklyn (picking up from where Modern Warfare 2 left off) and takes players to more than a dozen more locations around the world for special-ops missions and out-and-out battles.
The game was originally to be developed by Infinity Ward, but legal disputes with publisher Activision led to the addition of Sledgehammer Games and Raven Software on the development team.
The Call of Duty series is among the best-selling in video game history.
Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 3 is scheduled for a November release, according to reports. It will be available on the Xbox 360, Sony PS3 and Nintendo Wii consoles, and as a PC game on Microsoft Windows.
